The National Book Development Board (NBDB), the government agency mandated to develop and support the Philippine book publishing industry, will hold an online panel discussion on literary rights management and the importance of literary agents on 14 October 2020.
The seminar is part of Philippine’s effort to equip publishers, authors, and aspiring literary agents with knowledge on literary rights management to help them promote and sell books in the international market. The one and a half-hour seminar be held in conjunction with the Frankfurter Buchmesse.
To ensure the success of the program through an effective selection of experts/speakers, the NBDB is opening the Call for Resource Speakers. Interested individuals are advised to email the following requirements to firstname.lastname@example.org with the prescribed subject title SURNAME_SPEAKER_FBF LITERARY RIGHTS MANAGEMENT on or before 29 September 2020, 5 PM (Philippine Standard Time):
1. Abstract: Must include an abstract (150-200 words) written in a style that is accessible to a variety of readers especially the general public.
2. Outline: Proposed outline of topics and/or subtopics.
3. Speaker’s Profile: Kindly send us a 5-7 sentence bio note and a curriculum vitae highlighting previous engagements as a speaker on literary rights management and/or as a literary agent that handled Filipino authors or as a representative of any country that was featured as Guest of Honor (GOH) in Frankfurter Buchmesse.
The NBDB will review all documents received and send letters of acceptance to the selected speakers on or before 5 October 2020. Resource speakers shall be paid an honorarium as an appreciation for the time and effort to be part of the panel discussion on 14 October 2020.
