The Frankfurt Book Fair is hosting the following competitions for free travel to Germany and a free exhibitor stand at the fair on October 11 to 15

Frankfurt Book Fair Study Tour for Children’s and YA Lit editors 

The Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) is organizing a Study Tour for editors from South East Asia on children’s and YA book publishing fromJune 5 to 10 2017 in Germany. 

The tour will start in Frankfurt on June 5 (Monday) and end in Hamburg on June 10 (Saturday). Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the German Foreign Office. 

This trip will allow you to network and discuss current trends in children’s and YA literature. Participants will also visit German children‘s books and YA publishing houses, meet German foreign rights directors and illustrators, visit bookstores, and much more.

Frankfurt Fellowship Programme 2017

This year’s Frankfurt Fellowship Programme will take place from October 1 to 15 2017. The programme includes visits to publishers and booksellers in Frankfurt, Berlin and one additional city. As part of their visit, which culminates in participation in the Frankfurter Buchmesse (October 11 to 15 2017), Frankfurt  Fellows learn about various book markets, take part in matchmaking events and expand their network.

Applicants should have several years of experience in the publishing industry and a good command of English. The application form and other relevant information about applying to the Frankfurt Fellowship Programme 2017 is available online at www.buchmesse.de/fellows.

Application deadline is April 30, 2017.

Frankfurt Book Fair Wildcard Competition

The Frankfurt Book Fair is offering a free eight-square-meter stand to the exhibitor offering the best answers three questions:

  • Why does the fair need you as a new exhibitor?
  • How would you publicize your participation in advance of the fair?
  • How would your booth stand out?

The competition is open not only to publishers but also to “all producers of creative content are encouraged to participate: illustrators, game developers, corporate publishers, vloggers, bloggers, photographers and many others.”

The competition is open to companies that have never exhibited at Frankfurt. Chosen by the fair’s jury, the winner will be notified in June. For full details, see the Wildcard page on the Frankfurt Book Fair site.
