What is the Book Nook?

The Book Nook is a reading center for families. Kids and kids-at-heart can borrow and read books that are proudly Pinoy.

Why was The Book Nook Set up?

The Book Nook is an initiative of the National Book Development Board to help provide friendly reading spaces in areas where there are limited access to reading materials and the internet. The space serves as a resource center for children, their parents, and teachers to encourage them to read critically and write their own stories. Aside from reading, there will be storytelling, arts and craft, reading or writing workshops, and book club meetings. Readers can also arrange their own events! Depending on the pandemic situation in each area, programs will either be in person or online.

Can anyone visit The Book Nook?

Yes! We have books for kids and kids-at-heart.

About 65-70% of our titles are for kids and teens. We also have about 30-35% dedicated to adults. Anyone may visit the Book Nook and choose from our Books. Each Book Nook will have different rules depending on the pandemic situation in their area.

What kinds of reading material can we find at the Book Nook?

The Book Nook carries fiction, non-fiction books, and reference books that focus on the following topics: Culture, History, Art, Values, Environment, Health, Science, Work, Identity, Diversity, and Peace.

Are their books in our language?

Our books are in Filipino, English, and languages from around the country. The Book Nook encourages communities to write their own stories. Let us know if you have a story or if there are books that you would like to see in The Book Nook!

Book Nook sites are open from 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Saturday
